Comcast is working to strike licensing deals for a potential streaming video service outside of its traditional video service. A report at Bloomberg indicates that the cable giant has been making the rounds and securing programming rights for a nationwide streaming video service outside of its core coaxial network — just in case it’s a competitive direction the company finds itsself forced into. The effort is most likely a direct reaction to AT&T’s launch of DirecTV Now, and the expected emergence of a number of new services from the likes of Amazon and Hulu.
