Arris has been sued for a Surfboard modem flaw that resulted in unexpected latency and connectivity problems for customers. Late last year we noted how problems in the Surfboard SB6190 modem were caused by a flaw in the Intel Puma 6 chipset. While the SB6190 was advertised as a cutting edge device that supported 32 x 8 channel bonding, owners kept reporting latency and latency jitter in DNS lookups that resulted in unexplainable connectivity issues. By December Arris had told us they were looking into the bug, and more recently, ISPs like Cox began testing solution.
