Digital platform security firm Irdeto has announced a partnership with MStar Semiconductor and SMIT Holdings to offer a CI Plus 2.0 USB conditional access module (CAM) device.

TV manufacturer TP Vision and DVB-CI test tool and software provider Rabbit Labs is also supporting the partnership, which will allow consumers to receive pay-TV services on their TVs by using the USB-based CAMs. The CI Plus 2.0 standard introduces a new USB form factor for the interface between the CAM and the TV, allowing CI Plus 2.0 to be utilised globally, as opposed to mainly in Europe.
