BBC rocks up 20MN peak audience, iPlayer live record for World Cup clash

Even though it warned of delays in feeds, the BBC has reported unprecedented online audiences for its showing of the England v Sweden World Cup clash on 7 July.

According to data released by the BBC, 3.9 million people requested to watch the quarter final triumph of the Three Lions on the iPlayer and the BBC Sport web site with a record 97% of such requests being live. This represented the BBC’s highest online-viewed live programme ever.
