Just when you thought the TV world might be ready to settle down for a bit, along comes the 2018 IFA technology to prove you wrong. Suddenly those 4K-resolution TVs you’ve only just got used to are seemingly being muscled unceremoniously aside by new upstart 8K TVs boasting four times as many pixels.
And we’re not just talking about ‘out there’ concept 8K stuff, here: Samsung’s new Q900Rs are an actual range of 8K TVs that you’ll be able to buy from as soon as the end of this month.
Not surprisingly the reaction from journalists and consumers alike to the idea that the TV market is apparently set to go through another sea change has been far from universally positive. In fact, it was closer to universally hostile.
